SYSTEMATISCH
The textile industry is currently under pressure due to the high demand for sustainability and reuse. The costume industry is also calling for sustainability and it’s becoming essential to change the way of design and work.
Costumes are designed and made for a unique role. Once the show finishes, the costumes are never to be seen again. Reusing these costumes has become increasingly inevitable.

SYSTEMATISCH is a modular system in which loose costumepieces are designed based on character traits. This significantly increases the possibilities of combining pieces and with that reusing them as well.
The character traits are based on archetypes in storytelling. To maintain an overview, all of them are sorted into 6 collections. These collections also contain additional transitional costumepieces to make the combining of costumes even easier.
Furthermore, all costumepieces and materials are of high quality and sourced as much as possible from secondhand and deadstock traders.

To easily take all designs with me, a series of catalogs was made. Each catalog contains one collection. The designs are secured to a transparent card together with the fabric samples. This way you can see the front and back of the design and layer the cards to combine costumes remotely.
